bexio AG, Alte Jonastrasse 24, 8640 Rapperswil, Switzerland (hereinafter referred to as “bexio”) is the author of this privacy policy and owner of the information collected about you under this privacy policy (data). For the rest, the General Terms and Conditions of Business of bexio apply.

We know that the careful handling of your personal information is important to you. That is why we appreciate your trust that bexio handles this information in a conscientious manner. With this declaration, you authorise bexio to collect, process and use your personal details for the purposes named in this policy. In the process, bexio is responsible for the collection, processing, forwarding, saving and protection of your personal information and will ensure compliance with the Swiss data protection law. This consent may be revoked at any time with effect for the future.

The copyrights and all other rights to content, images, photos or other files on our website and our online services are solely the property of bexio or the rights holders specifically named. The written consent from the copyright holders is to be obtained in advance for the reproduction of any elements. 

  1. Scope of the collection of personal data

when visiting our website (without login)

When you visit our web site outside of the area protected via login, the web server technology used by us automatically logs general technical information regarding your visit. This includes, among other things, the IP address of the device used (anonymised), information about the browser type, the Internet Service Provider and the operating system used. 

when using the bexio cloud software (with login)

During the free-of-charge test access and when using the software provided by bexio for a fee within the area protected via log-in, all data entered or submitted by the user during the registration process and when using the software is also saved. This applies in particular when you register, place orders, complete online forms, participate in surveys or competitions, correspond with us online or offline, or contact us via social media, blogs or other interactive media.

By recording your details (registration), you consent to the processing, use and forwarding of your personal data within the framework and scope of the purposes described in this privacy policy.

  1. Data security 

We make use of technical and organisational security measures in accordance with recognised market standards in order to protect personal data saved at our company against unintended, unlawful or unauthorised tampering, deletion, change, access, forwarding or usage and against partial or complete loss. The servers of bexio are in a secure data centre in Switzerland that has been repeatedly certified. The connection to our servers is established by means of 256-bit SSL encryption. We regularly carry out back-ups of the customer data. In order to prevent data loss also in an extreme scenario (e.g. destruction of the data centre by an earthquake), the encrypted back-ups are saved in parallel in several data centres in Switzerland and abroad. Our security measures are continually adapted and improved in accordance with technological development. We do not assume any liability for the loss of data or such data becoming known and used by third parties. For the rest, we cannot assume any guarantee for the security of the data transmission on the Internet; in particular, there is the risk of access by third parties when communicating data by e-mail.

  1. Purpose of processing personal data

We process the data collected in order to be able to constantly improve the products and services requested by you, in order to manage your usage and your requested access to our applications, products and information, in order to maintain our business relationship with you, in order to monitor and improve the efficiency of our services, to detect, prevent or clarify illegal activities and in order to send you advertising, information or marketing material about products or services that, based on the data, we assume could be of interest to you. The data can also be forwarded to partner companies and service providers, selected third-party companies, institutes and/or state authorities authorised to receive such data by law, at home and abroad for the purpose of processing and saving this data within the framework of the purposes named above. If the processing or saving of personal information is done in countries that do not guarantee any appropriate data protection compared to Swiss data protection law, we will nevertheless strive to ensure an appropriate protection of your personal information.

  1. Cookies 

Cookies help to make your visit to our websites easier, more pleasant and more worthwhile. Cookies are data files that your web browser automatically saves on the hard disk of your computer whenever you visit our website and use our online services.

You can independently manage your security settings in the browser and thus block or deactivate cookies used by us; however, it may then not be possible to use certain services of bexio any longer (in full).

  1. Tracking and analysis tools / social media 

The use of our digital services is measured and analysed by means of various technical systems, primarily from third-party providers such as Google Analytics. These measurements can be made in both anonymous and personalised form. In the process, it is possible that the data collected is forwarded by us or the third-party providers of such technical systems for their part to third parties at home and abroad for processing. The most frequently used and well-known analysis tool is Google Analytics, a service of Google Inc. The recorded data can thus fundamentally be sent to a server of Google in the USA. For the rest, bexio does not have any detailed knowledge about what data is passed onto the third-party providers, where they are sent, and whether they are anonymised.

  1. Integration of third-party offers / social media

Our digital services are networked by diverse means with functions and systems of third parties, for instance through the integration of plug-ins from social networks of third parties, including in particular Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you have a user account with these third parties, it may also be possible for these third parties to measure and analyse your usage of our digital services. In the process, further personal data such as IP address, browser settings and other parameters may be passed onto these third parties and saved there. We do not have any control over such usage by third parties of personal data and we do not assume any responsibility or liability. For the rest, bexio does not have any detailed knowledge about what data is passed onto the third-party providers, where they are sent, and whether they are anonymised.

  1. Trustee partner programme 

Under the trustee partner programme of bexio, the end customer can share its data with its personal trustee. By using the trustee partner programme, the user authorises bexio to provide the trustee with all data about the respective user and/or to permit access to such information. At all times, the end customer retains full control over the access rights of the trustee to the data of the end customer and can restrict or refuse access at any time.

  1. Payroll accounting

When using the optional payroll accounting software of bexio, personal data of the end customer’s employees are naturally transmitted to bexio. Bexio treats this data with due care and ensures their security pursuant to the standards in this privacy policy. The end customer declares its consent and indemnifies bexio against any claims that may be raised by employees of the end customer against bexio. The end customer also declares that it has the sole responsibility for informing its employees with regard to the possible saving, usage and processing of data by bexio pursuant to the guidelines in this privacy policy. Should individual employees of the end customer not agree with the envisaged data processing, the end customer is responsible for deleting the respective data of its employees in its bexio cloud accordingly.

  1. Banking functions

When using the banking functions that are optionally available from bexio or when connecting a user’s own account to a bank, data is exchanged between bexio and the respective bank. This also includes payment and bank-specific information such as IBAN, account information, etc. The data is exchanged pursuant to the tasks to be fulfilled and for marketing purposes. When using the banking function, the customer declares its explicit consent to this exchange of data pursuant to the provisions in this privacy policy.

  1. Communication by e-mail

You can unsubscribe to these electronic mailings at any time or adjust the type and scope of this marketing service.

  1. Liability

Bexio does not assume any guarantee whatsoever for the information on the homepage and its online services being correct with regard to its content, accuracy, up-to-dateness, reliability or completeness. Claims for liability against bexio due to material or immaterial damage that has arisen from the access to or usage or non-usage of the published information, through misuse of the connection or through technical faults are excluded. All offers are non-binding. Bexio explicitly reserves the right to change, supplement or delete parts of the webpages or its entire website without special notice, or to suspend the publication temporarily or definitively.
